If you're ever in a legal tiff, it's obvious that the best thing that you can do is get some legal advice. And for such, lawyers obviously will provide the best. So in a sense, are all lawyers the same? Can two people who have undergone similar paths give you the same advice for your problems? It's one of the myths that need to be debunked. Moreover, it's something that people need to grasp.
Lawyers offer fees for advices
If lawyers provide fees for every word that they say, then everyone else who would give you advice should be paid! It's like telling your friend that he can't talk to you for the next hour unless you punch in an extra dollar to his account. The truth is they won't charge you for something that includes giving a simple warning to what can be probable legal conclusions. So disregard all ideas that you have about per minute payments. Eventually, you will pay for something. But for advice, that's free.
Lawyers live in the Court Room
This is an idea that may have originated from television. The stereotypical view when it comes to lawyers is that they're always in court asking questions and presenting evidences to prove their client's innocence. When in fact, there are other lawyers that make a living outside the court room. For instance, there are lawyers who practice corporate law that may have only seen the court room once in their lives. Since most of their work will be behind the desk and doing research and paperwork, there's no need for court hearings.
Lawyers are Rich!
Yes. If you're clients are rich, of course. No way should anyone generalize lawyers as being well-off. Some just have more connections. And for others, practicing law can only be a vocation. One reason why brankruptcy or injury lawyers don't really get rich is because there's so many of them! With so little clients and so many practicing law, only a handful are bound to be wealthy. That is why you see so many of them resorting to other means of income, making their degrees completely unusable.
Lawyers are Corrupt
Another generalization. Not every lawyer in the world resort to being corrupt just to gain fame and power. And of course, money. Some do their jobs properly, and some have paid the price for doing such. And if you think that there are only a few of them in the world that stand by the truth and justice, then you better think again. There are still a lot of them that believe in the noble cause.
